Hallelujah Jeff Buckley for Wedding

One of the most performed songs at weddings, both during the ceremony to the reception is the Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah. We must say that the original song was written by the great Canadian singer-songwriter, now in his eighties, Leonard Cohen. That of Jeff Buckley is a cover, a beautiful cover. We are talking about two great artists, two great singers: the dark voice, sensual and intimate Cohen and the angelic, full of emotions Buckley who played her and engraved in his first album Grace. Of note is the interpretation of Rufus Wainwright used for the soundtrack of the 2001 animated film Shrek. The initial version of the song contains many references to biblical texts of the Old Testament.

Trying to explain the meaning of the piece, Cohen declared that:

"The song explains that there are different types of alleluia, alleluia, and all perfect and broken have the same value. It is a desire for affirmation of life, not in some formal religious significance, but with enthusiasm, with emotion. I know there is an eye that is watching us all. There is a judgment that evaluates everything we do. ยป

Jeff Buckley declared in an interview that:

"Anyone who hears clearly Hallelujah find that it is a song about sex, love, of life on earth. The Alleluia is not a tribute to a beloved person, to an idol or God, but it's the hallelujah of the orgasm. It is an ode to life and love. "

HALLELUJAH

Now I've heard there was a secret chord That David played, and it pleased the Lord But you do not really care for music, do you? It goes like this The fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift The baffled king composing Hallelujah

Hallelujah

Your faith was strong but you needed proof You saw her bathing on the roof Her beauty and the moonlight overthrew you She tied you To a kitchen chair She broke your throne, and she cut your hair And from your lips she drew the Hallelujah

Hallelujah

You say I took the name in vain I do not even know the name But if I did, well really, what's it to you? There's a blaze of light In every word It does not matter Which you heard The holy or the broken Hallelujah

Hallelujah

I did my best, it was not much I could not feel, so I tried to touch I've Told the truth, I did not come to fool you And even though It all went wrong I'll stand before the Lord of Song With nothing on my tongue but Hallelujah

Hallelujah, Hallelujah ...
